Chris Mitchell News

Privacy policy

Effective 18 September 2026

We collect what we need to sell you the series, let you watch it, and help you if something goes wrong. We measure visits with Google Analytics, without advertising features. We do not run advertising trackers, and we do not sell or rent your information to anyone.

1. Who is responsible

Chris Mitchell News (chrismitchellnews.com) is operated by Mitchell Media LLC, 23 Anderson Farm Road, Rockbridge Baths, VA 24473, USA. For anything about your information, write to support@chrismitchellnews.com.

2. What we collect and why

WhatWhy
Your name and email address, given at checkoutTo create your library, send your sign-in emails and receipt, and recognise you when you come back
A record of what you bought, when, and the payment referenceTo give you access, handle refunds, and keep the accounts the law requires
Sign-in records: one-time links and codes (stored scrambled, not readable), and your signed-in sessionTo let you in without a password and keep others out
How far you have watched each episodeSo you can pick up where you left off
Messages you send through the help form, with the name and email you giveTo answer you
A log of the emails we send you and whether they were delivered, bounced or were marked as spamSo we can tell when a sign-in or welcome email did not reach you

We never see or store your card number; payment details go directly to Stripe. Our own database does not record your IP address or browser details. Our hosting provider keeps short-lived technical logs of requests, as every web host does, to run and protect the service.

3. Cookies

The site itself sets only the cookies it needs to work:

  • cm_session keeps you signed in, for up to 90 days or until you sign out.
  • cm_return_to remembers the page you were heading to while you sign in. It lasts an hour.
  • cm_guest is set only if you open a complimentary guest link we sent you.

We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. It sets its own cookies (_ga and _ga_…, lasting up to two years) that tell one browser from another; they do not contain your name or email. For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland these cookies are switched off and visits are counted without them. We have turned off Google's advertising features, and we do not load Google Analytics on pages whose address could identify you: signing in, the thank-you page after a purchase, guest links and the staff area. You can block it entirely with Google's opt-out browser add-on.

There are no advertising cookies. The checkout page is run by Stripe and the video player by Vimeo; each may set cookies of its own that are needed for payment security and playback. We load the Vimeo player with its do-not-track setting switched on.

4. Who handles your information for us

We use a small number of companies to run the site. Each receives only what it needs for its job:

  • Stripe: takes your payment and sends your receipt.
  • Cloudflare: hosts the site and the database that holds your library.
  • Vimeo: streams the videos.
  • Zoho: delivers the emails the site sends you and hosts the mailbox where we read your messages.
  • Google (Google Analytics): counts visits to the public pages and your library pages. It receives the page address, your approximate location from your IP address, and your browser and device type. It never receives your name, email or payment details from us.

These companies are based in the United States and may process information there and in other countries where they operate. We do not share your information with anyone else unless the law requires it.

5. Emails from us

When you buy, we email your welcome message and sign-in details, and later a note when a new episode of a series you own is released. These are part of the service. We send news or offers only to people who have asked for them, and every such email has an unsubscribe link.

6. How long we keep it

Your library and purchase record are kept for as long as you have access, and afterwards for as long as tax and accounting rules require. Sign-in codes expire after 15 minutes and sign-in links after seven days; sessions end after 90 days. Help messages are kept for as long as we need them to help you and to keep a record of what was agreed.

7. Your choices

You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Deleting your account also removes your library, so we will confirm with you first; we may need to keep the record of the payment itself for accounting. Depending on where you live, the law may give you further rights, such as objecting to certain uses or complaining to a data-protection authority. Write to support@chrismitchellnews.com and we will reply within 30 days.

8. Children

The site is meant for adults, and purchases must be made by someone 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Children are welcome to watch with their household.

9. Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top, and if the change is significant we will email purchasers.
